Hotel Plaza Havana, Havana

Upon arrival, the rooms were dirty and had issues like stained mattresses, damp sheets, and a broken shower. We moved to another room, which was slightly better overall, but still had a blocked sink and dirty towels. The questionable wiring and gaps made the room seem like a health hazard.

The hotel rooms smelled like mold and looked really bad initially, with damp sheets and a broken shower, so we requested a room change. The second room was somewhat better, but the sink was blocked, and the towels were dirty. The room was quite basic and Spartan in its fittings but functional. The lack of cleanliness and maintenance issues were disappointing, but the functional aspect was somewhat redeeming.

The hotel had a fantastic rooftop location with great ocean views and was very central, although the overall quality was equivalent to a 1-2 star Canadian hotel. The few downsides included the lack of curtains in the dirty rooms that seemed untouched for at least 50 years and poor AC performance.
